No. Tide apps show raw tide times. Castwise interprets tide, weather, swell, terrain, species behaviour, safety risk and your logged outcomes to produce mark-specific and species-specific recommendations.

It uses a deterministic scoring engine that scores each mark for each target species using tide, tidal range, season, time of day, wind, swell, pressure, ground type, structure, depth, clarity, sea temperature and moon/solunar factors, then ranks the results.

No. Quantitative recommendations come from the deterministic scoring engine. The coach receives approved mark and forecast context, and server checks prevent it from changing the app’s mark or safety decision. Its explanation is still AI-generated guidance and can be wrong.

No. Castwise improves your odds by matching marks, windows and tackle to the conditions, but fishing scores are guidance, not guaranteed catches.

No. Castwise works from general public shore areas and the marks you add yourself. It does not publish anyone’s secret or private marks.

Yes. You can place custom marks and Castwise will score them for you like any other mark.

Yes. Your custom marks, exact coordinates and individual catch logs are not published. If community learning is enabled, completed outcomes may contribute only to sample-gated condition aggregates; private mark IDs and private region labels are excluded.

Yes. AI Fish ID accepts up to two compressed photographs and gives a likely supported UK fish identification, alternatives and visible feature reasoning. Uncertain results ask for better evidence. It is an estimate, not a legal determination.

No. It can suggest the likely species and surface general handling and minimum-size guidance, but it cannot confirm legality. Always measure the fish and check current local minimum sizes and rules before deciding.

Castwise can display cached data and run scoring on-device without signal, but it cannot turn old data into a current forecast. Cached conditions may be stale and online maps or AI tools may be unavailable. Recheck tide, weather, swell and official warnings before relying on a plan.

Yes. Raw fishing potential is shown separately, then mark-specific risks can reduce the recommendation score through transparent penalties. High risk requires acknowledgement before planning or directions; critical risk or missing essential data is non-recommendable. Every detected concern remains visible. Spring tide and air temperature are warning-only because they are broadly shared by nearby marks, while a mark-specific tide cut-off can still deduct points. Core safety tools remain free.

Catches and blanks tune your private recommendation history. With “Help improve Castwise” enabled, completed outcomes can also calibrate thresholded community patterns. Aggregates need at least eight sessions from five anglers, and individual logs or exact private marks are not published.
