How we research, review, correct and update public Castwise guides and product information.
Who publishes this website
Castwise publishes this website and its shore-fishing guides. Product claims are checked against the behaviour and limits of the current Castwise app. General fishing guidance is educational and is checked against appropriate official or specialist sources before publication.
How pages are reviewed
Every guide is reviewed by Castwise before publication. We check that product descriptions match the current app, that safety limitations are prominent, that species guidance distinguishes general patterns from rules, and that links to regulations or official advice remain useful. Article pages show their latest review date.
Sources and regulation
For regulation, conservation sizes and safety, we prioritise first-party sources such as GOV.UK, the Marine Management Organisation, the relevant national or local fisheries authority, the Met Office and the RNLI. Fishing seasons and behaviour vary by coast and year, so general guidance is never presented as a guarantee.
Software-assisted drafting
Software may assist with drafting, structure or quality checks. It is never treated as evidence. Castwise reviews the finished page, checks factual claims and remains responsible for what is published.
Corrections
If you find an error, an outdated link or wording that overstates what the app can do, email [email protected]. Material corrections are reviewed promptly and the page review date is updated.
